The tournament will be held at Carlmont high school and open to the entire community for players of all levels, 14 years and older to be held between 8AM to 6PM on Friday/Saturday/Sunday June 27/28/29. By participating in this tournament, players agree to be available for a 4 hour slot on Friday the 27th if needed.

FEES

Players can participate in a maximum of two divisions. Fees for the first division event is $55 per player and total fees will be 80$ for two divisions per player. Fees cover court rental, match balls, beverages, light snacks and prizes for the winner and runner up teams for each division.

This is a fun, community event organized by the Carlmont High school (sponsored by the San Carlos Tennis Club) with volunteer participation from the SCTC club and Carlmont high school tennis team. All proceeds from this tournament will directly benefit the Carlmont high school tennis team.

VENUE

All matches will be played at the Carlmont high school tennis courts located at 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA 94002. Additional courts at Arguello Park tennis courts will be available as backup if needed.

REGISTRATION

Registration opens on Mar 1, 2025 and closes on June 23, 2025. Register early! We expect many divisions to sell out. No refunds/withdrawals after June 24. Once a particular division fills up, people will automatically be waitlisted. All those on the waitlist will be notified by June 24 2025. Upon registration you agree to play on Friday, June 27 if necessary

MATCH SCHEDULE

Draws will be posted on the registration site no later than June 24 at 7pm. Matches start at 8am and the last match of the day will start at 4 pm. Players need to be available on Friday June 27 if they are scheduled for that day. We will try our best to accommodate any conflicts and move things around if possible.

Please ensure you arrive at the venue with plenty of time (at least 30 minutes) before your match start time to check in, find your partner, get warmed up and make it to your court on time. Any players arriving more than 15 minutes after their scheduled time forfeit the match automatically.

DIVISIONS

Play will be organized in 7 doubles divisions as follows based on the combined USTA rating of the two players. For example two 3.5 players will have a combined rating of 7.0

  1. Men’s doubles 7.0 and below (16 teams)
  2. Men’s doubles 7.5 and up (8 teams)
  3. Women’s doubles 7.0 and below (16 teams)
  4. Women’s doubles 7.5 and up (8 teams)
  5. Mixed 7.0 and below (16 teams)
  6. Mixed 7.5 and above (8 teams)
  7. Parent/Child doubles (8 teams) - a child must be at least 14 years old and less than 18 years old to qualify

Divisions may be combined if necessary. Players should indicate their double partners (if they have one) during registration. If players do not have a partner, every effort will be made to match them to a player with no partner. Players can only enter a maximum of two divisions.

FORMAT

Each doubles match will be a best of 3 sets with 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of the 3rd set. All games will be played with NO ad-scoring. Receiver’s choice of side except for mixed play or parent/child play where players serve man-man, woman-woman, parent-parent or child-child.

  1. In order to make it fair for everyone, we will adopt the bisque handicap system
  2. Each level difference of 0.5 gives the weaker team one bisque point per set
  3. Bisques reset after every set and balance do not carry over
  4. Bisque point can only be used to win a game but not for matchpoint/setpoint or during tiebreaker
  5. The weaker team chooses when to take the bisque point

Example a 6.0 team against a 7.0 team gets two bisque points in each set. In each set they can pick up to 2 games where if they are up 40-30 or 40-40 use a bisque point to win that game or can use 2 bisque points to win a game if they are down 30-40

Each participant is guaranteed at least two matches in each division. Players who lose in the first round will play one more consolation match. The main lineup will be a knock-out format where those that win advance to the next level. Finals of each division will be held on Sunday.

SANDBAGGING | OUT OF ONE'S LEAGUE

It is the tournament responsibility to facilitate competitive divisions if at all possible. It is the athlete's responsibility to register for a division that suits his or her skill level. In case USTA/UTR rating for that player is available, it will be used to validate the skill level.

The tournament shall have the authority to change an Athlete's or Team's registered division for the betterment of the tournament. Tournament director’s decision will be final and binding.

CANCELLATIONS

All entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you must withdraw, please let us know by June 17th at 5pm PST.

REGISTRATION REFUSAL

If the organizers identify an athlete that violates our good sportsman Code of Conduct, we reserve the right to refuse registration and or remove an athlete from the event in progress.
